This course of instruction is the second of three fundamental handgun training classes. SGC strongly recommends the Beginning Pistol (or equivalent) before applying to attend this course. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Beginning Pistol or past experience approved by the Instructor
Selecting the right pistol
Selecting the right holster and magazine holders.
Shooting basics – implementing the proper grip, sight alignment, sight picture, stance, trigger control, and follow through
Drawing the pistol from the holster, proper alignment to the target and safe recovery back to the holster
Combat and Tactical loading and unloading techniques
Static shooting positions
Cleaning and maintenance
Quality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols only.
No micro pistols or pocket pistols to include: P238, P938, P365, M&P Shield, Glock 43, etc.
3 magazines minimum
Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
Wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5″ belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
Active noise reduction hearing protection preferred
