INTRO TO TACTICAL CARBINE:

This course of instruction will provide the student with the fundamentals required to set a solid foundation on which to build the student’s tactical rifle skills. Students will achieve a thorough base-line knowledge of their rifle system and how to safely and accurately operate it.

This course is designed for AR or AK style semi-automatic rifles with iron or red dot optics.

Pre-requisite: Evaluation and Acceptance by Instructor

This is an introductory level class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Overview:

Time on the range will focus on the fundamentals of shooting, body position, stance, safety activation, trigger control, along with timed and un-timed drills designed to increase shooter confidence and skill at ranges from 7-50 yards. The course will finish with a shooter evaluation.

How to safely carry, transport and store rifles
Basic operation and function of the AR and AK rifles
Rifle selection and support equipment review
Ammunition selection, handling, and storage
How to safely load, shoot, reload, and unload a rifle
Rifle manipulation skills
Marksmanship fundamentals
Fundamental Ballistics
Zeroing (iron sights and red dots)
Shooting positions
Cleaning and maintenance lessons

Required Equipment

CA compliant AR or AK style rifle with a sling (MAGPUL MS4 or similar recommended).
A minimum of two magazines
Elbow and Knee pads and ground pad recommended.
Sturdy belt with magazine pouch(es)
Bipod or pack on which to rest your rifle while prone recommended
Protective eyewear
Active noise reduction hearing protection preferred

Ammunition:

Estimated round count: 400 rounds approved rifle ammo
No steel core or steel jacketed ammo in compliance with range rules
No reloaded ammo allowed
Ammunition is available for purchase from the Sacramento Gun Club
